Gilded statue, about 5-1/2 feet highthe gilded statue of a boy with a frog-face holding a carp is the statue of a legendary "Kappa" or water sprite. They are notorious for fooling people, and dragging them into the water for drowning! They have lots of strength in the water, but on land, they have a weakness, the top of their head is a small shallow hollow that contains water. If that water dries up or is lost, they die immediately. Kappas are very polite, and the way to trick them is to bow, and they will be forced to bow back, and the water spills from their head. They love cucumbers and eggplant.
